This webinar, on 15 May 2024 examines the main neurodiversity needs we are likely to see in education and explore some strategies and resources that a teacher can put into action to assist neurodiverse learners in a language class.
This session aims to understand how to better help students with learning differences in a language class. The webinar looks at the main neurodiversity needs that teachers are likely to encounter in their classes and the main challenges those learners face. The session will look at tips, strategies and resources that aim to facilitate and maximise learning of students who can have difficulties. We will cover how to break down some of the barriers face with issues such as focus, concentration and working memory, as well as accurate and fluent reading.

- Neurodiversity is a term that refers to the idea that there is a wide range of variation in human neurological function and that these variations are not deficits but are part of natural human variation.
- Learners with neurodiversity may have a variety of needs, such as needing more time to complete tasks, needing information to be presented in a certain way, or needing breaks throughout the day.
- Teachers can support learners with neurodiversity by using a variety of teaching methods, such as chunking information, using visuals, and providing opportunities for learners to move around.
- It is important to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all learners.
