Getting Unstuck: a Story of Reigniting the Teaching and Lesson Planning Spark

Being a teacher requires constant development: signing up for courses, attending events and constantly looking for new resources. And what if you’re a freelancer, not ready to invest more money, not part of a teaching team you can learn from and on the verge of professional burnout? Let me share my own experiment, an adventure that needs just you, your students and a bit of digging for non-ELT inspiration, that might be just what you need to reignite the spark.
This video is about a teacher who was feeling uninspired and burned out from teaching and lesson planning. She read a book called “Stretch” by Scott Sonenshein, which helped her to develop a stretching mindset. This mindset helped her to appreciate what she already had, shop her own closet of resources, make midyear resolutions, plan backward, and go explore. As a result, she felt more inspired and energized in her teaching. She also felt that her students were more engaged and motivated.
